Did you see the Octagon on sale for $99?

This is worth the money, I would not be without it. Mine is packed with the incubating supplies.

My hubby will kill me if I get a second one just for hatching. It is very tempting.

I totally agree. Best money I ever spent!

Yes, I fill both water wells then I put the wet washcloth in , the washcloth wicks the water from the wells. With the washcloth there is more surface area of water ,so you have higher humidity. I can only fit about 18 of my sussex eggs, but they are VERY large.

Oh no! You guys suck and are evil...evil! I have never hatched eggs before but have 6 big girls and 3x 4mth old cochins..I am so addicted and after reading this thread I AM going to get a bator and try to hatch some chicks my self.

Will an absolute newbie be able to successfully hatch chicks?

I wonder how many goose eggs one of these could hold? They do have a fan, right? I was planning on letting the geese hatch their own eggs since I SUCK at hatching geese eggs, even in my hovabators. But maybe these would work better for the goose eggs? Can't hurt I guess. I can fit 16 goose eggs with a turner or 20+ without in my hovabator, I usually hand-turn goose eggs. I think one of the problems I'm having is with the goslings getting stuck since they are pipped for so long...maybe I need to get another crumby LG for those.

I am a classroom teacher (2nd Grade) also and last year we couldn't find anyone to hire a bator and get some egss from for our life cycle unit...SO getting my own bator could solve this and I would get to keep the babies ect...now

I see that the Mini seems to be a great size and you can see the eggs more so it would be great for a classroom and me...also it will stop me from putting in too many eggs...now does this contraption come with everything i will need...I think I will have to get the one with all the bells and whistles so it turns and keeps the temp and humidity all correct ect.... does it come with instructions of what to do with the egg and humidity?
