Distressed about a Lethargic chicken

Thank you for the tips and tricks. I am not in the hospital move to corporate as part of the EMR wave. I don't have access to any supplies. This morning, I gave her 60ml of pedialyte waited an hour and I gave checked she felt empty so, I fed her the baby bird food 2.5 pedialyte to 1 powder. This morning I noticed small amounts of poop which resembled baby bird poop. Bright green with little lumps still more clear liquid then solids. Now, I have to leave for me 12 day. I put some pedialyte in her water and left her smashed hard boiled egg mixed with yogurt. She was more alert this morning and resistant to being fed. I will take that as a good thing.

I have noticed that some birds do not like yogurt, others eat it right up. So, if she doesn't eat it, you might just try it without the yogurt next time. Have you tried green peas? Most birds love green peas. Contains protein too.

Crumbles and eggs only, no yogurt . You could also offer her mealworms or crickets. As for her drinking water, just put plain ole tap water for her.

Well, she is still with me still popping the same after we gave her the pedialyte 60ml. I noticed that she is pale. I put her under the electric blanket with me and she is pinking up. Imwas ready to feed her tonight but i think her core is cold. I think it is going to be another long night. I will verify the temp of her food. I am going to set my alarm to check her in 4 hours.

You're doing great. It's probably going to take some time to get her strong and healthy enough to start nourishing herself. So don't feel discouraged if you don't see immediate changes. Have you been weighing her?

I will post a poop picture next poop. Both hubby & I called in to take care of her. I am going to feed her. Poop expected in an hour or less. How often should I be feeding her today. We are prepared to go around the clock if necessary. At 5:30 am we gave her 69 ml of pedialyte. Checking temp feeds are around 100. Thinking I should change to h2o? To much electrolytes only?

You might need to zoom in

She seems to be losing this battle. She isn't climib in her box anymore. Her breathing seems labored to shallow. We are going to let hypothermia take her. Turning off the heat lamp and additional heat sources.

I am going to take a stool sample to the vet an hour away. I want to have the other girls tested and I finally found a local vet to talk with last night. I anticipate she will be gone when we get home.

I know we grow from all experiences and this one has taught me that I need an emergency kit and where to take stool samples. Plus trust my instincts EARLY, in reflection too much scrabbling around lack of supplies and getting organized. I will be testing those girls at the first sign of anything.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me. If you know where I can purchase a crop feeder, please post it. Tomorrow if I can't find one in the USA, I will order it from Australia.

Instead of letting her die a slow death maybe you could cull her. There's a chance she can pull through, but if you think she's suffering and can no longer go on then take her out of her misery.

I would personally try to keep going especially if you're taking her stool in anyways. The decision is up to you, but at least consider culling her quickly instead of dieing slowly. I know it's not an easy decision, but just think about it.

I don't know what culling is but I guess she heard my sobbing stood up walked over to the box watching me cry. We had just fed her, maybe she just needed to rest.

I am pretty exhausted. I am not going to give up. She hasn't and I am going to give her my time and care.
