Deb, looking good. If you keep the pace you'll have almost a week to read through and polish it. Nice =)
I finished writing last night at 22,000 plus words. The stats say I will be done before Thanks giving.
Polishing will take a year. The idea is to slam the book down as fast as you can without "Rethinking" and at the end you make a promise to edit it.
there are some areas that may go into character study but mostly Its turning out well as a
backbone. When you submitt your story for verification of word count It gets randomly jumbled... So they NEVER see your story as you wrote it.
There is a purpose with the writing. Its promoting the idea that you can write a novel... even a bad novel is an extreme learning experience.
In the book
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King he writes that there are three phases he goes through in novel writing. Closed door Draft. NO one sees the first draft. Then the Open Door draft where you let family and friends read and offer suggestions where you get your attaboys or girls and flat out "What were you thinkings" then you send it to an editor who will be merciless.
You pay the editor per word. Unless you have friends in the field who have offered. Mee mee... I have two friends who are college professors One teaches writing the other has published and has her own editor.
The movie The Martian, big box office seller here still, was originally written on line and self published. The guy did it a few pages at a time on a blog and there were thousands of comments and posts and rants while he was writing it. But it was immensely popular so popular that his fans recommended he get it published for real. So he did
My goal is to publish through
amazon either book and hope to sell a few. My friend wrote a children's book and published on
Amazon its on the age level of a Stewart Little. Either to be read by an adult to a child or by an older child.
Before I do any of my own editing I need a refresher course in grammar and spelling. For instance... I am of the habit of using
ellipses.... Three little dots that i have begun to use in many cases in the place of commas... Its a bad habit. But one that I started using when I first went on line.
I am working on it. typing fast helps.
there are parts of my style that some people feel are odd. I kind of reverse the order of thought... I am working on that
So we will see what we will see on the finished product.
