No, but when they did the surgery on my eye this last time, it caused a LOT of debris. Even the surgery they did involved needles in my eye. I was told it would improve, or get worse, but either way I would eventually have to have the debris cleaned out. It's pretty much the same type procedure. If it hurts her afterwards, you might ask her eye doctor about steroid drops. They are expensive (about $50.00), and rarely covered by insurance. Many eye doctors don't mention them for that reason, but they are well worth the price. They may be able to give her numbing drops, but here they don't.

cold compress and tylenol .... and plain old over the counter Soothe eye drops... Her doc says shes probably got the highest threshold for pain hes seen.

I dont know if he is doing something different. or if she is different... but she sometimes has pain afterwards and sometimes not. Every six weeks they have been doing this since she was diagnosed more than a year ago.

Potatoes, halve them and put them on the eyes. Better yet grind or shred them put in wet wash clothes and put on eyes. Research it, I kid you not, antiseptic, pain relieving, promotes healing.

I know you must be exasperated to joke like that. You are joking aren't you? If not I want you to know my son's Therapist has mentioned many times a horse is just as sensitive as the vets with TBI, PTSD and MDD. They even use horses for therapy for Vets over at Copper Hill, Virginia. Hubby and I have considered it. We have a barn. We even looked at a place that is land and a barn for sale on Big Sky just off of 103 in NC near the Claudeville, Virginia border. Hubby said the price is right for a large indoor riding area and stables with about three acres of pasture but it will not work because it is too far away from our place so we think the barn we have will need improvement or we will have to remove MORE trees, level more mountain side and seed, time, work & cost prohibits, so we are looking back at the pasture and barn (appx an acre)near our house,... Will need to move the greenhouse to enlarge that pasture. Maybe a goat?...

I have contemplated it. She's a mini, very hot headed, half sister to shadow of a doubt which is multi world champion. She goes through these stages where she acts completely idiotic and things as simple as removing her halter set he off. I've been dealing with her since she was 2 and she is 6 or 7 now I believe. Took her halter off after bringing her back to her stall in the barn and she immediately rears up and busts me in the chin with her head. Then proceeds to run to the back of her stall and slam herself into the wall like I'm killing her. Unfortunately all the horses from that specific stallion all act like this. They're either smart and hot or sweet and dumb. I have yet to see one that is a combination of both. I take this mare to shows and she does wonderfully but at home she has these horrible days like this. For the rest of the night she would cower and run from me. Never have I done anything to make this horse run from me. I do believe the guy that auctioned her was rough on her. I'm wondering if she has flashbacks to him? The Amish bred and raised her. They seemed like a very nice bunch at the auction and weren't going to let her sell for the price she went for but after talking to me they decided to let her go. I've seen Amish on both the good side and the bad side but that's the locals and this guy wasn't local.
