Do chickens ever lay two eggs per day?

I have a Marans half-breed, Honker (named for the sweet sound of her voice), who regularly lays a normal dark-shelled egg, then a rubber egg on the same day. Then she goes days and days not laying, then lays another normal and rubber egg. This has happened over and over.

I'm glad I found this thread, too, so I know it's not my imagination. I wish there was a way to prevent those rubber eggs, though! The rubber egg is always the second one that she lays.

Yes it happens - my Mazi a black Copper Maran layed 2 beautiful dark chocolate eggs today. For those non believers . . . . There are 8 hens in theIraq coop and she is the only Maran - retrieved 9 eggs today. She is an over achiever for sure!

I have two hens. I checked their nest box at 11pm last night and there were no eggs. This morning however, there were three nice warm eggs in the nest box. There was a lot of very loud yelling coming out of the coop just an hour before all this happened. I guess she was outraged at having to go through this twice in one morning. Guess we should consider the eggs as fraternal twins. Lol.

There were two more dark brown speckled eggs today from my Welsummer hen. Nothing from the Easter Egger. At least these were several hours apart. Thats 4 eggs in 2 days for her. The color doesn't lie.

When my EE laid her 1st egg, it was nearly as big as a goose egg. It had only one HUGE! yolk in it. That yolk was a big as a large chicken egg all by itself. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Poor girl, she was so little and the egg was so large I'm surprised she survived it.

We currently have 2 hens and about 2 times a week we will get 3 eggs on those days. Early lays (by about 6:00 am) then a late egg laid in the evening. (10 pm?) I am convinced they are both doing this, as 10pm to 6am is just too short of a time span, I would think, to produce another egg. They use the same place to lay, so figuring out who is doing what is a bit tricky.

Our girls are Golden Comets and they are (March 26th 2014 will be) a year old. At this point, it is a normal occurrence for us. lol We have only had 2 Dbl Yoker size eggs. One was a double, the other was a huge single yolk.

This last one was a single huge yolk. The size of their regular eggs are jumbo's.

182 grams. An average large egg is around 60 grams.
