Do you remember your childs first word?

Older DD's first word was Dada.

Second DD didn't talk. And didn't talk, and sometimes seemed to not respond to noise or hear us. Hearing problems are an issue in Dhs family so we thought she might be hearing impaired. So the doctor agreed and sent out a crew of therapists to assess her at home. The thought was that it would be easier for her to act naturally at home. So three people are sitting on the floor with her and showing her toys and talking to her trying to get a response. The language therapist shows her a doll and says ,"Look at the doll," And DD pipes up "Baby" First thing she ever said. It was a full word, clearly stated and not a repeat of what had just been said. The three people looked at me like I was an idiot.

She's still like that - won't say a word until she has something to really say........ Reminds me of the mashed potato joke.

For when you have grandkids, cut the feet off of a pair of zipper pajamas, now put them on her backwars, so it zips up the back. Now she can't access her diaper.

My son said "Hey".

I guess because every morning when he woke up, I'd come to pick him up and say, "Hey, my baby! Good morning!" and one morning when he saw me coming he said "Hey" really sweetly and clearly. I thought it was the greatest thing.

My daughter said "Boo" because she loved to play peek-a-boo since about four months old or so, and one day as I was pulling the blanket off her head, before I could say anything she squealed "BOO!" and laughed hysterically. So cute!

And my preemie girl is currently too young to talk.

With the first kid, it was kind of hard to figure out what he was saying, but I think his first word may have been "rock". He was somewhat obsessed with rocks, and still finds fossils everywhere. He also said "usholly", which we couldn't figure out. One day we were out walking and some dogs barked, and he said it. We then realized he had been saying "hush Molly", and telling the dogs not to bark.

I wasn't around for Maddy's first word but according to DH it was Da-da.

With Ash her first word was clearly "car". She's a bit of a motorhead, I'm glad we gave her the middle name we did!
