Puppies are definitely a ton of work but I love the work and love training and everything so it’s fun to me. I might be a bit insane



Poodles are really nice dogs!! I’m really starting to lean towards them more and more. There is definitely something to be said for the not shedding.

And honestly I feel like having to brush/comb out a fluffy dog daily or even weekly is way more work than just shaving them down every month or two.

I love standard poodles! So smart and glass is half full personality!!

I am a dog addict. I think I was born that way. We have kept 5-6 dogs since we were married many moons ago. I'm always dreaming about the next dog. My list used to be long on which breeds I wanted. I'm getting older and my list is shorter these days even though I still dream about owning dogs like a Saint Bernard, or a Irish wolfhound, I know I never will own one.

I plan my life out by how many more dogs I can own in my lifetime. I'm running out of time.

I really enjoy my Boston French bulldog mixes, and really any brachycephalic breeds. Those cute mugs.

I also love boxers, Australian Shepherds, and rat terriers. We've owned hounds, bassets and coonhounds. Both goofy breeds.

I'm currently trying to pin down my next breed for this coming year. I'm definitely dog dreaming again.

I feel the same way about the Dane. Losing a dog is so painful - I don't want to do that in 6-8 years.

As for Swissys - I fell in love with the breed about 15 years ago in Switzerland. I was there on business and staying at a ski resort. I'm an early riser and went for a walk early one morning and watched as the ski patrol was training with Swissys in avalanche rescue. Watching them work was amazing. At the time, I volunteered in Mtn search and rescue.
So I reserved a Swissy pup from a AKC breeder and waited for the litter to be born. The breeder was shocked to find that somehow her Pyr male had fathered her litter with the Swissy female - so no pure bred. But I took one anyway.

The disposition of all 12 of those accidental pups was remarkable - and she decided to intentionally breed them - which is how I ended up with 2 of them! If she was still breeding, I'd go with the mix again - I've had labs, Chesapeake Bay retrievers, huskies - but I've never had dogs like these two.

If it weren't for the shedding, I'd probably get one a Pyr and Swissy, and breed my own mixes!

They sound like a great mix. I love the look of your pups. Funny how the accidental breeding worked out. How was shipping them back to the states?

I've been lucky with Stoli. She's 11.5yrs old now. I have a friend who, coincidentally, bought a female out of the litter after my girl and they named her Stoli, as well! They were both a few years old before we figured that out. He took his to the vet not long ago and the vet told him she'd never seen a 11yr old newfoundland in that good of shape. Then she said "In fact, I've never seen an 11yr old newfoundland." I'm pretty sure there is something else in their bloodline. Probably lab.

I’ve always wanted Salukis! And I’ve fostered and had ranch dogs of many types—mostly Australian Cattle Dogs. I fostered a standard poodle once and thought it would be the perfect pal—yin/yang for my Cattle dogs. As much as I dream of other breeds... I know when all is said and done, I’ll probably have more cattle dogs. We speak the same language!!

I'm with you on the dog addict bit. The most we've had was four at one time, and will probably never go over that number. Probably.

I have a St. Bernard mix and she's such a dope. I love her to pieces, don't get me wrong, but she's such a ding dong. I've never had a such a loveable lap dog, though. She'd crawl right inside you if she could! She's about 160-170lbs and needs to shed some weight. And she's a long hair that sheds like a maniac!

I have a St. Bernard mix and she's such a dope. I love her to pieces, don't get me wrong, but she's such a ding dong. I've never had a such a loveable lap dog, though. She'd crawl right inside you if she could! She's about 160-170lbs and needs to shed some weight. And she's a long hair that sheds like a maniac!

Those big dogs don't live long on average. That's one reason I haven't gone that route even though most are gentle giants. I don't know if I could handle the loss at a younger age. It's hard enough when they live past 10-12 years.

I still dream about a big old lap dog.

I'd never shave a poodle down, their hair is too pretty to do that.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm thinking I've only got 1 more pair of dogs in my lifetime - so I really want to get it right!

I actually got them in Upstate NY. I was willing to drive 250 miles to get my "purebred"
