How do you find their energy levels? Do you think a Boston would be a good fit?

I do think they would be a good fit for you. I've heard many times from other Boston owners that their Bostons (which I think were mostly males) were crazy and energetic. I have not had that experience at all with my two female Bostons. Sure they love to run and play but they also love to sleep a lot. I've had no trouble calming them down. Mine hardly bark unless they are copying other dogs. They seem to learn a lot of their behaviors from other dogs.

Basically the best description I can give is "a smooth coated Cavalier that's slightly more aloof". I think I've said this before

In my experience, they can be slightly clingy, but not in a bad way in my opinion. My current Boston definitely prefers to be within one room over from me but is also fine if I have to leave for a little while. My first Boston was a rescue so she had separation anxiety and was ALWAYS by my side (until she got very sick ).

Boston's do not like being left alone. They are very clingy in my experiences with my one.

That sounds about the same as a Cavalier. They do REALLY like to be in the same room as you, but if you leave the house, they're like "ok, I guess I'll just sleep"

Although not as clingy as an Australian shepherd. Those follow you everywhere.
