Is there a reason for misting and cooling? I have never heard of that or knew it was something that might be beneficial.

During my preliminary research about incubating Muscovy ducks it became apparent there’s a benefit to misting and cooling the eggs of waterfowl to replicate the actions of the mother duck getting off her eggs and bathing herself before resuming incubation.
The hatchery I got my eggs from also used this method so I’m trying out the occasional misting and cooling as well

Haha not to worry! I’m the same, I’ll get so into a thread I forget things written earlier.

But yes, they’re Muscovy duck eggs so I have to wait till day 35 which is SO HARD!!!

So far very well on track! The first week they were losing a tad too much so I upped the humidity. This past week they were all at almost exactly 2.8% loss give or take a gram. I need to get a more accurate scale though because mine does only whole grams, something I’ll need to get for the next phase, but even without the extra accuracy they seem to be losing weight at a reasonable rate! Tomorrow I’ll be checking again
