At day 32, most of your development is complete, so if they are still alive and moving, they should be okay. Hatching is usually a major problem with 2 embryos so if at any time you think the ducklings need help, don’t be afraid to help them as they are already going to be in awkward positions. I look forward to seeing how this turns out!

I’m definitely anticipating having to help, I’m just scared of doing it too soon so I’ve been waiting for something to happen. I figured once the first one pips the egg I can start searching for the others bill and make a hole for them. Having serious anxiety right now!!!

Being there is not a lot of room in the eggs I would assume the ducklings would be fairly weak from inability to move properly. I, too, would be watching for the first pip if there is one. Also, make sure you have a relatively consistent humidity. Once the bird pops externally, the membrane starts drying, becoming like glue. This will be interesting, no doubt.

Exactly, I don’t think I’ll wait too long to see if they pip externally since I also don’t want them kicking each other while trying cuz they could rupture the others yolk sack.

I’ve got a humidifier running inside the room so that way when I do open the bator it won’t chsnge much! Also got coconut oil handy now to moisten the membrane

When I hatched Nibbler(khacki/rouen cross), I had to help, but keep in mind ducks often start to hatch and then just pause for a day to finish absorbing the yolk. Nibbler had a huge yolk attached to her navel still, so I made a "Chick-U" out of a shallow pan placed in the incubator, but tall enough walls she couldn't hop out and tear herself open pulling away from the shell to which her yolk and navel were still attached. I lined the pan with damp paper towels, put her and her egg in it, and put a couple of warmed eggs in around her to keep her even stiller. Then I squirted injectable pennicillin all around on the paper towel(but not on her or the shell) to stave off inection which can be a major killer if it gets into the yolk. Obviously, Nibbs is a fine happy healthy adult hen now, and a very friendly one at that. :) good luck, and go slow! Do not panic if there are yolk bellies, act fast act smart and act calm, and your ducklings will stand the best chance.

From an uncooperative dinosaur phone sp please forgive any weird typos.

Wow what your chick went through sounds intense! I definitely plan on going slow, once there’s an internal pip I’ll see if I can make a breathing hole for the other twin but after that I know I can’t go near them for at least 12 hours. It’s gonna be hell not to be able to help when I want to but I know it’s for the best! I just suck at waiting LOL

Something weird is happening to 5! I thought I could hear the occasional tap so I looked with the light through the window and the air cell seemed weird, and upon closer inspection it seems to have shifted to the point where the bottom half of the air cell is no longer see through and the top is. What is happening?!?!

Normal. That is what we call “drawdown”. Internal pips are usually 24 or so hours after drawdown, then external pips 12-24 hours after that. Then hatching 24-48 hours after external pip! So it sounds like they are right on track!
