If you do have to house sit, fingers crossed that they are delayed, could you bring the puppy to your house part of the time so it wouldn't ever be alone.

Not an option with my own 3 furry bastards lol. Plus to be fair id be furious if I paid someone to take care of my animals and they were half-assing it like that. The only reason I started my project was because I thought I didn’t have them till next week, got my two families mixed up! Just heard they got their passport so I’ll be going in an hour and checking in every so often. My mom said she’d keep an eye on humidity for me, I’ve got the camera rolling to record everything, and if anything happens on it she will let me know

So sorry, I just caught up. I was gone all day yesterday, chores to do today.
Sorry that little one was dead. Looks at least a few days dead, that’s a pretty big yolk sac. :(

As far as moving eggs.... I had a hen at my farm (45 minute drive) kill a couple hatchlings, so I took the remaining 4 eggs. I nestled them in a plastic butter bowl, wedged with paper towels, and drove home with it between my thighs.
I spun the bowl a few times so the eggs got warmth from my legs. I think all 4 hatched, maybe just 3. It’s been a couple years lol

But I still wouldn’t suggest moving these duck eggs. Just hope for the best.

You’ve gotten me inspired to try again! I’m going to ask my neighbor to save me about 4 double yolk eggs (from chickens) and maybe a few normal eggs. I know this is a research project, so what have you learned so far?

LOL so far I’ve learned it’s a good way to have an anxiety attack

Also, with the supportive evidence of a previously done study on the hatchability of doubles, it’s obvious only a small percentage makes it to hatch, with a few never setting, a few dying early, and now like 5, dying right at the end. Since I don’t know what caused the deaths it’s tough to take anything from it but it’s a good control group for when I do twins-in-a-cup.

Don’t worry, I know you have a life :p

Yeah moving just doesn’t seem like a good idea. I figured it’s actually good i won’t be hovering trying to jump in. I’ll have a good 6 hour between every check so gives them time to do their thing y’know? I might take the babies with me once they hatch though. If any hatch...

He poked himself a hole outside of the air cell!! Made sure the membrane was cleared away and dabbed the tiny bit of blood that I saw. Just grabbed corn starch to make sure it’s stopped
