We have had glorious rain all day and the ducks are LOVING IT! this is the first time my pekins and runners have ever experienved rain​

I'm not looking forward to trying to dry out their run. Or fill in the holes.... but it's worth it for the rain!

So giving the kiddies some lawn time today. And I think it finally clicked who the drakes are. I think I have 6 drakes and 6 hens, so put zip ties on the suspected drakes to see if I'm right. Heres a pic of 4 of the pekins and the one at the front (right side) is the drake suspect that I'd keep. What do you all look for in your drakes for breeding?

sadly I think 2 out of 3 runners are drakes. Including the crested. This is 2 runners and 2 pekins. Again, pekin on right I think is drake.

This has def been the year of the drake. I hatched 6 runners this season 5 were drakes. What I look for in a drake is personality how he treats his females means a lot to me. And how he treats his humans lol

I've read that a curled tail feather = drake. If that is true, do all duck breeds carry that trait??

Yes, that is true for all Mallard-derived ducks, but not for Muscovies. Muscovy drakes do not have a curled tail feather.

Yes, true, but mine are still young so no curls yet. Merely going off voice for now and hoping curls confirm

Daffy found herself a pond. And for anyone following along Daisys journey, you can see the scarring on her caruncles but first time she hasn't been swollen in along time
