Quick question about Muscovies, My Muscovy Bella hisses like the drake, but in a more louder, and lighter voice, While he is quiet and his voice is very dark and not loud what so ever. Bella also has the face of a drake, though my drakes is a lot more red, hers is still pretty huge, not like a typical hens, Bella is also quite small though, while the drake is huge so Bella really confuses me, I don't know if she lays eggs or not because she fully matured right when winter was arriving, do you think it's because she is from a hatchery? Or does that not matter.. Or maybe genetics?

Can you get a close up of Bella's face? Muscovy can have much different degrees of carnucles depends on genetics for sure and if they came from a hatchery then you have no way of seeing the parent stock. As for eggs most likely she'll lay next year of mine have always done so. Hatch one year lay the next usually 8-9 months old. My females carnucles are different on each of their faces. Thanks for the compliment on my drake he is such a ham.

Snowing right now and it's going to rain, so hopefully around 3-4 I can get a good picture (Dang weather :rant) I heard the females whistle or make a different sound than the drakes.. but she hisses. Is that true? :idunno And your welcome, my muscovy colors feel plain to me (I still love them lol) since I have so many white birds. I really like the black muscovies.. so pretty!

I originally started with solid white Muscovy females my drake I adopted from the river was black. But the blue eyes on the solid whites is so pretty. I think your whites are beautiful. Females make a cooing sounds or trilling Don't think I've heard hissing even from my drakes. Huffing sounds yes.

here a pic of one of my whites and Ruth Ann my oldest now at 12 yrs.

Very pretty, my muscovies feathers are very dirty right now so they don't look as fluffy, and my drake has ruined my hens feathers by mating her whenever he has a chance.
