, Vaseline is *not* water soluble, it's petroleum jelly, it's completely insoluble in water. In fact it’s water repellent.

Exactly. Not positive, but I think this is why many gynecologists suggest using something like KY Jelly instead of Vaseline.

Has to be water based like KY jelly as only safe product for internal use because the hope is it can be retracted or tucked in. Vaseline is only a moisturizer and moisture barrier for external use only.
