East RIver - South Dakota

I've gotten the blue ones at Shopko in Pipestone. Last year I bought every package they had! They produce small potatoes but they are cool looking.

On a chicken note... Anybody know of any Swedish Flower Hen breeders close or semi close to here?

OurnTSC in Aberdeen has them this year, and I think Runnings does too. I haven't let myself go to Runnings because I don't want to "accidentally" come home with chicks I'm not ready for :)

But those are the best ones!

Anyone have guineas? I've heard they are amazing for ticks (we have an abundance this year) but also very noisy. Do they go to roost at night with chickens or stay in the trees?

I'm no help with those, I have "urban" chickens (I use that term very loosely). I'm trying to find a silkie pullet or a speckled sussex but both are proving to be impossible I think. I wish I had more space so I could place a large order :(

I have guineas, I had two ticks last year. But, this year I have had quite a few already. I am wondering if it is because it is so dry? Mine have been coop trained. Meaning, if you train them as keets to go to the coop at night, then you shouldn't have to pick them out of the trees after dark. They will roost in trees, or anything high for that matters. Mine seem to prefer the roof until they discover my son can climb out the window after them.

Thanks mystry. I'm hoping to find someone local who has some to spare or fertilized eggs as I don't need or want a full hatchery order. Thanks for the info though, much appreciated.
