Barred Rock at 6mos.

One of the rhode island reds started laying at about 16 and a half weeks old. Was just cleaning the coop and found a tiny little egg. Didn't get another until a few weeks after and then by 24 weeks, they were all laying

One of my Barred Rocks started laying at about 18 weeks in mid December. My daughter said she saw a Rhode Island White lay this week so she would be around 20 weeks. My older girls started at 20 to 25 weeks. They are Cochins, Buff Orps , Brahmas and Easter Eggers. The Buff Orps were first at 20 to 22 weeks followed by the others by 25 weeks. I can't say one particular age because it varies with each breed and even among the same breed. My Spitzhauben and Ameraucanas are 20 weeks and not laying yet .

Barred rocks and columbians started at 18-20, my rhode islands were a little later; I had a clutch of black sex link go 30+ weeks without laying, I don’t really know what happened there. My Toulouse goose has just started and she hatched in April

I have three black, white and tan speckled bantams (parentage a mystery) (1 cockerel named "Fancy Pants" because he has feathers on his feet & his two sisters) and also have another pullet that I hatched out. I was told she would be a "meat bird". Her name is Penny and she has a single (crooked) comb and a poofy "hat" on her head. Penny is not as tall as Fancy Pants, but she weighs twice as much as he, and she's two months younger.

I voted, I have a mixed flock (supposedly) California White, Leghorn, Giant Cochin, and something else I don't remember, but one is definitely a bantam

I voted, but I had to cheat and look up the average age of Orpingtons for laying. I was so excited to get eggs (as this was my first time owning chickens), I don't even remember- that was 4 years ago. I need to do better!!!
