Egg skelter?

YES I like mine! I have this inexpensive plastic model. It keeps the eggs in order, and fits in the fridge.

Yeah I have a metal one, one of the lower/wider ones. They're nice, but like all eggs on counters keep them out of direct sunlight. I do like them both for look and utility
The only downside is it only holds 2 dozen. When we have more than that we use labeled egg cartons on a shelf.

I was thinking about buying an egg skelter off Amazon, was wondering if anyone liked them or has a method of storing eggs that they like better.
Hate the one I got... from Amazon.

Simply put... eggs stay fresher (higher quality, not the same as rotting) at fridge temp for a longer period of time and my family doesn't go through eggs fast enough for them to stay on the counter. The haugh unit diminishes over time... making the eggs runnier and yolks crack easier... the shells even crack easier.

In addition the eggs wouldn't just flow down... I had to help them and that would cause the stuck ones to roll all the way to the bottom, practically scrambling them. I think I threw mine in the trash instead of subjecting anyone else to it.

The skelter LOOKS nice when you have company. I would consider the plastic one for INSIDE the fridge in the future. Seems like the wide channels are best for allowing multiple sizes of eggs in the same skelter verses the other one I tried.

All my eggs get stores unwashed, pointy end down, in cartons in the fridge with a date label on the eggs. Stored this was... they were fresher than store bought even after 6 months in the fridge!

When I was a kid, "they" taught us that one day on the counter is equivalent to a week in the fridge... these links concur though I don't know the source of that information.

My post about it previously is in the following thread along with other good shares...

Best wishes! :thumbsup

Never used one. I store my eggs in the fridge in cartons. If I need room temp eggs, I take them out of the fridge a few hours before use. I don't need something else taking up counter space.

I use stackable metal racks which can hold 9 apiece - I think they're meant to be boiling trays. I load them from the bottom and pull from the top - can take a rack over to the counter for cooking etc. Just forgo the non-stacking bottom tray - it's unnecessary and means you have to shift your eggs. I have 4 of these and the overflow goes to egg crates - only problem is a bantam egg will slip right through.

They are intriguing to me as a mechanical designer.
But have read too many cons to actually buy one,
eggs not rolling well, limited capacity, takes up a lot of space.
More 'form' than 'function'.
I just use cartons on counter and/or in fridge,
kept in an order to use/sell older eggs first.

Got pics? :pop

Almost all my eggs are bantam now. :p
