EMERGENCY PLEASE HELP!!!! i think my baby duckling is dying

so his clicking sound is gone when he breathes but his eyes still look funny and he is still boated but at least he finally pooped. temp

All I can do is say a little prayer for him. I don't know anything about ducks but I hope he gets better for you. He is so cute.

I'm so glad he's doing better. I only keep asking about temperature because too low of a temperature will cause respiratory issues (the clicking while breathing), slow digestion (bloating and not pooping), and ultimately is usually fatal.

what temperature are you keeping them at?
what are you feeding them?

temp is between 90-95º, i read that any higher can be bad for them....
i notice if they are too hot they scurry around and drink a lot of water and poop wayyyyy more than normal and if theyre cold they huddle and sleep. if theyre just right they move around a bit but not nearly as much and they dont huddle they just sleep wherever they feel like.

however, i currently have him with me sitting on my tummy with a heating pad domed over so theres still air but he is comfortable. he is not trying to nuzzle deeper to stay warm and is not trying to get out. if i take the heating pad away he cries. This is how he pooped, from sitting on me in the nice warmth for a while. when he is in the brooder with they others they just move around so much and step on each other that he doesnt have time to relax and just let it allll out lol

okay the clicking is actually still happening but it is way way way quieter now

How does the vent look now?
I was actually thinking it looked like intestines hanging out, but I’m on mobile and pics don’t enlarge well for me.

intestines hanging out!??!?!?!?!?! his yolk sac belly button thing? that was not his vent.

his vent looks good, same as before just harder to find now that hes all lively and squirmy again! his fur around the area is fluffier again so it takes some searching but it didnt look bad before in my opinion however idk what they're supposed to look like. i also dont want to put his body through too much stress of trying to find his vent because i just want him to poop more!

also the others have been pooping fine and have not had the clicking sound. they have all been kept at the same temp as each other so idk why just he has issues as of right now

I know this is not what you want to hear but from my experience, the ones that start to have problems right after hatching don’t normally make it. There is probably something not formed right. But don’t give up trying. There is always a chance. I would try to get it to eat and drink.

thank you, this is why i posted. i needed to know if there was something easy and obvious that should be done to help him because if i didnt do anything i would feel even worse. but even having tried everything, and even though he finally pooped on me (yay!) i still am cautious and preparing myself just in case

it's not incorrect. But the temperature should be lowered about every week as they grow. They should have a warm spot and a cooler spot so that they can move to moderate the temperature they want to be at. But you seem to have a handle on the temperature.

I have found that sometimes a duckling with a respiratory issue (that clicking) will do better with a little extra heat. But exactly how you are doing now. Not like baking them by putting the heat in the brooder higher.

It's probably not the chest. More likely the crop. The crop is a little organ at the base of the neck that helps digest food. If it feels like a water balloon it may be sour crop.
