How right you are! I am glad my children know nothing of this! Growing up, my mother was/still is a bit of a loon when it comes to end of days. I can remember being in 7th grade (I am the oldest of four biological kids) and her telling us that the world was going to end. I was soooo scared! her reasoning for it? Because as we were driving home from Sunday night church, the sun looked very different. I had never noticed it looking that way in the evening sky before, but since I have saw it many times like that (I was 12, I didn't pay attention to the evening sun). That same week in school, we were asked to write about what we were most frightened of and I wrote about that (almost crying in class as I am writing). My teachers probably thought I was nuts! I don't even talk to my mom anymore -- she's way too crazy! She likes to instill fear in people about the end of days. Sad thing is, she's adopted 8 kids from various countries and they've had that fear instilled in them.
Today, I am a Christian and have very, very different views than that of my mother. We always attended normal churches growing up. These were her own wacky ideas and she'd generally move from church to church when her ideas were rejected.
