I lost 3 pounds in two weeks. I was dancing a gig, doc cautioned me against dieting - to which I replied, "Dieting? I'm not dieting! I've increased my veggies!" she laughed and said that was good.
She talked to us honestly about how we felt about this pregnancy - and we answered her honestly. We told her that we went through a tumult of emotions: shocked, upset, thought of adoption for a minute, shocked, disbelief, tremendous amount of tears after the first test, shock after the second test, and fear to tell anyone. Did I mention shocked?
She said everything we'd been feeling was perfectly normal, and since we also explained the stress we had been under in the weeks prior to discovering our pregnancy, and how often things just do NOT happen (TMI?), she replied, "Well, this baby was meant to be."
I do not get to VBAC. Insurance and hospital policy doesn't allow it. The plan right now is to take the baby on the Monday closest to my due date (which is September 12, 2011) but because I had (ofg look away) placenta previa with my last baby, she said I'm high risk to have it again this pregnancy, so they will be monitoring me closely for that she said - and if it happens this pregnany, they will take baby at 37 weeks - which is August 30.
She said she will pray with us again this time, like she did last time with baby boy, before we go to the ER and I am welcome to have our Pastor come in to pray, too.
The entire staff was very supportive, and not a bit judgemental when we honest told them that at first we didn't want this baby.
Don't freak out on us! We want her NOW! We just had to get used to the idea...
We got to hear the heartbeat - it was in the 160's! Doc had a hard time at first, because she found baby, and then baby wiggled away, so she had to move around the doppler thingy to find baby again - and that took half of forever! But baby finally cooperated and we got to hear her (or his, but I'm stubbornly saying her for now until told different!) heartbeat. (If I believe in the Old Wive's tale, by the heartrate I'd be having a girl...but I think one of my boys had a heart rate in the 160's so who knows?)
Even that didn't make me feel pregnant. I mean, I know I'm pregnant, and I've had morning sickness, nausea, dizzy spells, etc., but I still don't feel pregnant.
And, most of my clothes (except button jeans) still fit.
They did move my due date up one day - September 16 - so I'm officially 13 weeks tomorrow, and into my second trimester.
Should have my gender telling ultrasound Mid - End of April. Praying selfishly for a girl, but will be happy with a healthy baby no matter gender!

Yup...and no one warned me....AWKWARD! LOL Luckily, it was just me in the room (and the ultrasound tech) but I remembered thinking...GAWD, I'm glad I didn't invite a bunch of people!
Not sure how close you are with your parents, but just in case you don't know, your first ultrasound will be vaginal. I would find that very awkward if my dad were around! But I know lots of people are more comfortable than I am. Just thought I'd warn you...

First, My very deepest sympathies to krcote- Im am so sorry for your loss. Time will heal your heart and body, and its ok to grieve. I've been there and I know there are no words to make it better, but time does. Our angels will be in Heaven waiting for us.
Second.. I had my first Dr. appt today! Wasnt a real OB thing, I had a appt for a Pap, so I went to it, and they confirmed my preg. Now I have an appt in 2 weeks (the 24th) for the full work up and my first ultrasound! The DR. thinks I'm only 9 weeks for some reason, but I just figured I'd let her think it, no use arguing, ya know? Plus, the ultrasound will confirm my dates anyways. Its a trans-vag, never fun, but usefull none the less. I should be far enough along to see a heartbeat and maybe some movement, so that should be fun.
Now I'm wondering just how early an ultrasound can tell the sex with any accuracy!? I've read some people have seen the sex pretty reliably at 13 weeks, but who knows if I'll be so lucky! I figure boys have an outie so maybe it will be easier to see so early, if it is a boy?
Errrgg! I want time to speed up AND slow down at the same time!! If I was having to get my leg amputated, time would FLY by, but since its a baby/pregnancy thing, it seems to be crawling by!
I'm SOOOOO looking forward to months 4 and 1/2 thru 7, the best and easiest months, but dreading months 8 to 9 and then labor and delivery! And since I've had a few newborns already, I'm not really looking forward to those firat 6 to 8 weeks postpartum- those can be tough!! (for me at least, but I have 5 kids to care for also, the first 2 babies were a BREEZE looking back!).

Its really not that bad- I just know how things are for me and how it goes around my place. I guess I'm just kinda rambling on about my fears and my own anxiety- sorry.

My First Ultrasound at 9.5 weeks wasn't Vaginal..... But we did think we were 12 weeks at the time, so maybe because we thought I was further along, they did the normal ultrasound.
@suzettex5. Depend on the doctor and how good their ultrasound machine is. I read 14 weeks, but when I saw my Doctor at 14 weeks he said it was very unlikely that he would be able to tell, and that actually boys and girls look the same at that time. When he did the scan it was obvious there would be no way to tell at that time. But I have heard of people finding out that early, so maybe it's a matter of ultrasound machine quality.
