Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Any one have Pregnancy Rhinitis? It's constant nasal congestion, sure makes sleeping difficult! I woke up to pee with sandpaper tongue again last night

My doctor said Tylenol Cold is okay to use, have you all had luck with anything else?

I got stuffy as can be and went through TONS of kleenex. Using a humidifier at night seemed to help me a bit. Otherwise I just delt with it. Then again, every time I ran out into the cold outdoors my nose started running like crazy, so maybe the weather was giving me a hand too... Sounds like your case is worse than mine was though, I only woke up with sand-paper-tongue once or twice.

Hope you can find someone a little more usefull on this topic than me.

I've never done it but I was actually looking at possibly going AROUND my insurance and paying out of pocket. I trust the Army OBs at the base hospital about as far as a I'd trust a hound in the chicken run. All good intentions but destructive as all H***. But that's a different story...

Anycase, point one is to shop around. Find out what hospitals/birth centers are around you and get prices. If you're having a normal pregnancy you can also look into a home birth with a midwife. The Hospitals and Birthing Centers will often have payment plans and will reduce some costs if you pay in advance; I'm not sure about the midwives though. Never looked into it as they were never an option for me.

Second tip, when you go in if you make sure the staff knows it's coming out of your own pocket they will work with you and ASK before doing some things. There's some stuff that insurance just picks up that isn't really necessary that they'll ask you whether or not you want.

All told, I think the average for giving birth in a hospital with all the expected stuff (normal birth) is about $20,000. Varies by area, but that's about the going rate here in the Springs...

California has Many programs in place fro Uninsured Pregnant Women, I had no insurance, and all of the ones I looked into said Pregnancy was a pre existing condition, Kaiser even went so far as to tell me they would kick me out if I was pregnant, because I lied during application....

Medicare is one of your options, but we made too much to qualify for that.

So I am with AIM (Access for infants and Mothers). We had to make a certain amount, I think it was like $3800 - $4200 a month... but I'm not sure on that. We have to pay $55 a month, and we are covered completley by Blue Cross insurance, and they seem to cover EVERYTHING

Check into those

Oh and With AIM you can even get insurance through Kaiser, I just didn't want to drive 2 hours for all my appointments and 2 hours in the car in labor does not sound fun, LOL. So I chose Blue Cross.

Have you ever used a neti pot? They're kind of a strange concept, but mine has helped me sooo much! I've heard that they actually help more than drugs do.

You might also try one of the "breathe rite" nasal strips. I've heard those help a lot, too.

Lots and LOTS of tissues! lol Don't even like to take regular Tylenol when preggers so I just buy lots of Puffs with lotion.

Unfortunately Tylenol is my Pregnancy Friend... Doc says it's prefectly fine to take, so I take his word for it, Sometimes my hips hurt soo bad I am ready to cry. And Last night I got permission to take a Tylenol PM because I have barely slept in months, and I was getting pretty crazy. It stopped working at 3:30 this morning but those 6.5 hours of uninterupted sleep were sooo amazing, I feel 1,000 times better today!

Yeah, I know it is safe, just still try to not take it unless I really need it. I am paranoid like that.

Hey everyone, I need some help. Can't think with so little sleep.
One of the things on my list is to get my bag packed for the big day. This is what I have so far:
Clothes to go home in
snacks
change
batteries for camera
camera
pony tail holders (hair in my face is annoying)

That's all I got. Can't remember what all I actually needed/used the last time.
