Aww I hope your lil Hattie heals quick too.I would keep her in a crate to avoid getting dirt in it.
My little Hattie has an infected foot and I have put her ina crate and placed her in the enclosure with the flock.
Hate seeing them suffering . Hope your duck recovers soon!

I've used it in eyes before and it's never irritated the eyes before.
Mrs H you can make your own saline wash with warm water and salt. or get terramycin eye ointment at the feed store. Are you putting ACV into their drinking buckets where she is head washing. That may help too. I don't understand why dirt would be sticking to it unless she isn't washing her face.
See about getting a pic, I wouldn't want to say yes give an antibiotic since they can do more harm than good. I am wondering if she may not feel well overall and not just the eye since you say she looks unkept.Do you think maybe she needs antibiotics? Would it hurt to give her some? I used a soft cloth today with homemade Saline to try and clean stuff off but it didn't help much. Skin around eye looks sorta hard and yellow. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, it's just takes me to hold her down (boy they are strong) and my daughter to clean eye, didn't want to stress her more. She didnt mind us cleaning it, it didn't appear to hurt her if that makes a difference. She doesn't seem to be doing a good job cleaning herself she pretty muddy on her wings (poured today) but is bathing herself just not as well I guess![]()
Thanks so much Btw for all your help! You have helped so much with all my questions on here (past/present) I do appreciate it!

Has she been laying eggs? How old is she? Just so hard to know only a vet could really say but finding one who will see a duck then being able to actually afford one is whole new ball game.
Well just figured Id ask. She is almost 6montha old, just have 2 or 3 laying, not sure who tho. She is being completely normal running around eating swimming etc. Been wet/muddy here too lately which might not be helping. Hoping for a dry week next week. There is no vet that im aware of. Idk maybe it's just going to take some time. Going to try the homemade Saline for the next day or 2 to see if that works better. I haven't checked her eye this am yet since her Saline treatment last night. Letting her eat n do her morning thing first.
I had one go to bed muddy too last night came out clean this morning lolI forgot to add that this am when I let them out she was clean and spotless. She was so dirty last night I swear and there's no water in their house either lol. Maybe I'm just loosing my mind lol
Doesn't sound like anything too serious, just keep up what your doing wash with saline during the day and spray with Veterycin before bed.
