Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Pics
After I let the ducks out, I witnessed Moon and Star, the Aylesbury, mating. Yes, I took them out of quarantine because they were miserable in that cage and I trust that the breeder (who breeds for show) would have a healthy stock, especially after he came over to talk to us to make sure they were going to a good home.

Jacin, you can slap me now.

Well at least now that they're out of that cage there's no excuse not to take amazing pics of them🤨

I realize this, and it's one thing I worry about with potentially showing my birds. But these two were surprises and I didn't have anywhere to put them except a rabbit cage, and it's gotten cold at night again. I didn't want them to freeze.

I think you did the best you could, your reasons for letting them out are valid. Plus, you trust their previous home

What really ticks me off about Marek's is that by developing the vaccine, we've actually enabled the more virulent versions to flourish. The vaccine doe not protect against the disease, it only prevents symptoms from being shown or lessens them. And once a bird has Marek's, they will have it for life.

In nature, the more virulent versions quickly die out because they can't spread due to the host dying, but this has enabled them to become dominant.

Plus as waterfowl, they can't carry mareks, especially if they're given a good bath before leaving an infected home. That's why I'm moving to ducks
