This awful Wind, glad your grandson is ok!The icing on the cake was when I heard screaming coming from the neighbour's across the street! It sounded like a cat was being mauled, but then I realized it was a child! I ran over expecting the neighbour's boy, but it was my grand-son! Their dog had broken it's chain and attacked him!
Holy CROW Wind, we really really need to know whats out there!!!!!!! Can we convince you to "go toward the light"?!It's 4 am, I'm exhausted but completely on edge. Woke up about an hour and a half ago tossing and turning from itching. Sat down at the computer with some tea and was playing Sodoku and watching a video when I get a text from my daughter: OUTSIDE. NOW.
For the past couple of weeks, she had been seeing lights outside, in the trees. One was up high and red, like a drone's. She'd also said she'd seen someone walking around the front tree line and a vehicle parked on the road a few days ago but this was early daylight.
Anyhow, she'd been watching from the window upstairs and was seeing lights again. She must have noticed when my own light came on in the trailer and sent that text. I went outside and she's staring into the woods beyond the trailer then shouted to get off the property. I added in as deep a voice as I could that I would send the dogs out. No reply, no sounds apart from very light crackling in the fallen leaves, honestly too light to be a human. Chipmunks were louder than that!
We stayed outside for about 15 minutes. She pointed out whenever she would see these lights (three areas, across the road, beyond the trailer, and in the back woods). We walked out on the dark road and looked around. She said sometimes the light was bright enough to shift her shadow (bright moon out tonight so it was fairly illuminated for the time). I couldn't see them, or would only catch a brief glimpse. And wherever she pointed out, you'd hear those crackling leaves as if something was walking. No other sound, not even night insects or wildlife. Everything was deathly still. Now, this time of year is cold but we're having our usual October warm-up and it isn't freezing out there. And there was one occasion where I heard what sounded like a night frog chirping briefly so there should have been more night noises.
We went back up the driveway and suddenly the ducks started quacking loudly from their coop. This is before 4 am. I know they do 'talk' during the night, but it was eerie. And then a cockerel crowed in the other coop. And I clearly saw lights in the back woods. Like a bright spot of light, not something that completely illuminated the area, very localized. My body hair was on end (although it might have been the chill air?).
We decided to go back inside our respective dwellings and I said I could put the dog out and he would alert if anything was nearby. That's when a wolf started howling in the distance. I have never heard a wolf in these parts, only coyotes (and that was three years ago). Decided that even though it was distant enough I'd keep Taiyo in. But Taiyo had different plans and not wanting to be cleaning up pee I did put him out.
He wasn't out there more than a couple of minutes when he sounded off, baying at something (he's a hound, he bays. Loudly.) Figuring there was an animal out there, I opened the door and called him in (I'm a coward at heart and wasn't going out there!). He wouldn't come. Kept baying in the direction of the road. Eventually he came back around to the side of the trailer, hackles up, but then dashed as far as his chain would let him to bay at the back woods. Got him to come back towards the door but then he kept going towards the end of the trailer, still baying. The exact three locations my daughter had pointed out earlier!
Unknown to me, she had been watching from the upstairs window and also saw this. Her text to me was: Told you!
So hear I sit, almost 5 am now, freaked out. Dog whined at the door a bit but is now laying down again.
What is out there? I'm starting to think it may be the North American version of faeries. Or maybe I watch too many supernatural unexplained videos...

Wendigos with Orbs?Gracious, I hope there are no wendigo out there! They are cannibals (literally)!
Been reading a bit about orbs, which sound right, but that wouldn't explain the light leaf crushing footsteps.
And like **** I'm going out there in the dark! I've been terrified of the woods at night since I was a little kid!
Wendigos with Orbs?![]()
Wouldn't explain the light footsteps. And if it was hunters, they are trespassing on private property.Maybe hunters with lights, they are further away than you think?
It's what I'm leaning towards, although not necessarily 'monsters'. I'm thinking more along the lines of the Little People of Native legend.I'm going with mythical monsters, its my nature and heritage.![]()
