The best description of having a beagle I've seen!I'm fond of beagles, they're cute, small and remind me that I'm not in control.
My poodle with the chronic ear infections and allergies was from a kennel that won best in show at Westminster. My other poodle passed away at one year old from a breed related disorder and his father went to Westminster, so both dogs were about as high quality as you can get and the breeders did all of the testing and took the best possible care of their dogs. That is partly why I have decided mutts only from now on. Nature makes the healthiest animals, so in my opinion the more mixed the better. I love the quirkiness and individuality of a one of a kind mutt. I still do love purebreeds though, and still love poodles. I just won't be getting any more. They were wonderful dogs and I loved them dearly.Wow, I looked up possible health conditions of poodles and the list is not short, but any dog can have any health condition.
I'm being very careful in searching for a reputable breeder and have very small list of ones to contact within driving distance.
Nothing is more adorable than a bassett! My first purebred dog was a bassett. I still have her ashes. I asked my husband to place them with me when I am gone. She was the sweetest.Basset hounds and labradoodles(idunno how to spell...)
are my f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e.
Both dog breeds werent supposed to shed.. both she'd like CRAZY.
I love my basset hound because who doesn't like chubby dogs, short feet and flappy ears? And labs are great because they are so loyal and faithful to their masters.
I love my dogs.
According to the vet I used to work with, brushing only works if done daily, a I would have to agree with him. He frequently had to pull horrible, infected teeth from the mouths of small dogs. I don't remember him pulling so many teeth from large dogs.I read also that the Toy Poodle can have tooth problems because of a small mouth. Maybe because of the small mouth it's difficult to get a toothbrushing done thoroughly. Something to talk to the breeder about.
Some of my best dogs have been poodle crosses - one of whom lived to see 21. Poodle mixes generally give you the intelligence of a poodle with the hardiness of a mixed breed all in a shed-free, lovable package. Unless, of course, they turnout like my current poodle mix, who has all of the above qualities except the smarts. I swear, my Indy is as dumb as the proverbial rock ... but what he lacks in intelligence, he more than makes up for in good manners and absolute sweetness!I love the quirkiness and individuality of a one of a kind mutt. I was looking for a designer poodle mix puppy, but have found most are from puppy mills. There are some that are supposedly not from mills and the parents are in the homes of the breeders, but thousands of $$$, more than a show quality pure breed. Some of my best dogs have been poodle crosses - one of whom lived to see 21.
