Would you happen to know of anyone that is a current Dutch hook bill breeder? That would sell eggs or ducks?
If you go to the livestock conservancy website you can do a breeder search for hookbills. I don't know how current it is or if anyone has anything available this time of year, but last time I checked there were several breeders on there.

They would be my second choice had I voted for a second breed. They are so quiet, great moms, and good for both eggs and meat. A really good balanced option.
Yeah, maybe one day I will raise some Muscovy ducks. Btw Agnes, you can now vote for two breeds, since I made an edit earlier. So, if you want to vote for both breeds your welcome to do so. :)

Man.. it is so hard to choose just one. They all have such great things about them.

I love my Muscovy, because they are such great care takers of the flock. They always are the first ones to welcome the new young ones into the flock and will care after them. Then they can cause a lot of trouble too 🙄. And man are they broody.

My Cayugas are super chill and calm. They are one of the most social breed I have and don't mind as much being handled. Granted I am not sure either of my 2 lay black eggs at all. I know one doesn't.

Pekin have such great quirky personality and lay eggs like crazy, but sadly they are my least favorite. Too many leg issues. Ducks should not weigh that much with the legs they have.

My runners are such cuties and fun to watch running around like little bowling balls. They are super sweet, but the most skiddish breed I have. Plus they have pretty blue and green eggs.

I love my swedish. They are great foragers, with one who walks with her head down all the time looking for good stuff. Not as social though. Ironically one my black swedish lays a black egg.

My welsh are sweeties, but they are often at the bottom of the pecking order. I always feel bad for them. They just have a calm eligant look about them.

Then there is my khaki Campbell that is very curious and a great layer. She was my most high energy duck till I got runners, and now loves foraging with them. Only downside was the drake I had was jerk.

I think my favorite has to be my Saxony. Maybe it is because my drake is especially amazing. I so lucked out with him, since he is not the typical jerk. All of mine are essential the guard dogs of my flock. They will alert the flock of anything and will follow things like cats or squirrels and make sure they leave their area. They are super social. Granted there are noisy and when they get broody they go crazy. I think that they will eat out of my hand over in eating in the food trough wins me over ever time.

Still sooo hard to choose. I love them all!
