February 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
First PIP DAY 19, backwards looks like it’s malpositioned! I was able to tell that it’s breathing and could hear it chirping but blood vessels are way too early to do anything more. We’ll have to wait and see how it does!😊
Little patient is doing OK. Rewrapped it’s leg this morning. Not able to walk at all on its own. Giving it some PT by supporting its weight up in a sling so it can try to use it’s legs, so the muscles can develop. Slept all night in the chick chair. Not able to eat or drink on its own but does eat when I feed it every two hours or so, egg yolk mixed with a little Nutradrench and some ground chick starter.
Not getting my hopes up with this one, but we’ll do the best we can as long as we can and as long as it is not suffering!

Here are the other four that hatched two days ago.😊

Day 20. 3 hatched last night. 5 or 6 pips in the others with 2 almost finished zipping when I left. Hopefully by the time I get home from school I'll have a few more. Got a goer because he pipped the wrong end but is still almost out.

My first 2 that hatched are black and my other one is a grey. Not sure on breeds just yet (they're part of my 2 mixed dozens I got).

My Border Collie also is fascinated by the brooder. She sits there tilting her head from side to side.

Picked up couple new girls and new chicks today. Looks like I have the start of a chocolate Silkie breeding program. I’ve been getting lucky with Silkie colours lately. Now I have a Mille fleur silkie pullet and a chocolate Silkie hen I wasn’t expecting to purchase either! Father of the Mille fleur is a white columbian Silkie, and one of the chicks looks to be white columbian too. I couldn’t take the roo home as don’t have the second pen set up yet, but just can’t believe my luck.
PICS please!!!
