Hi we have a new member with a squashed egg that’s about to hatch. I only know hatching under a broody, so can’t advise about switching the egg from the broody to a makeshift incubator. Any of you incubator experts want to take a look at that thread? Thanks

I have a question. I have eggs at the post office that were sitting there all day sunday (since it's closed), tomorrow I'm picking them up around noon and will unpack them get settled to room temperature. Do y'all think I should still let them sit for 12-24hrs before putting them in the incubator? I just think, they've already been sitting at the post office for over 24hrs...it'll be like close to 48hrs when I go pick them up.

In this case ,I would let the eggs warm up to room temp over a couple of hours and get then in the incubator quickly. Just turn off the turner for the first 3 days. At this point it is more important to get them started than to settle them down.

First pip on day 19, I love it when they are as eager to hatch as I am for them to hatch haha. Super cute chirps in the background while I study

Also @AusHen that sounds like something my dog would do. He enjoys watching the incubator as well and watching them grow up. He does "chicken duties" with me every time but sometimes forgets his size for sure. Luckily due to my laziness of not getting a second desk up the spiral stairs my incubators are on the floor !

Standard lighter for reference. Its a small unit, nine chicken eggs. No humidity control. Just keep some water in the reservoir. It has been great for the first two cycles. It was $40-50. I can’t remember exactly. It is quiet and simple.
