When and how should I do candling of she's on the eggs most of the time?
I just go out and slip my hand under them. My Muscovys aren’t upset a bit by my checking their eggs, if you have a female that gets upset then you’ll have to wait till she goes out to eat or drink .
She’s a beauty!
Does she have any shelter overhead?
I always have to wait until they get off the nest. I don’t have any ducks that will let me reach under them! (chicken hens, yes. Ducks, no)
Mine tend to take a break about an hour before sun down. Sometimes they want to bathe and take their time (30 minutes or more), other times they get a quick bite and head back to the nest. I try to candle about once a week, and also make sure no eggs are cracked or any other issue with them.
Yes, she's under a tree and has the shed on one side and a bush close by in the other side.
I think I'll have to wait too, she's not the type who'll happily let me reach under
Should I bring them inside to a dark room or can it be done outside?
You’ll need a dark room a closet will do.
While she was off the eggs for food and a wash I took the eggs inside to a dark room to candle them, 3 have visible red veins, 1 is a bit dirty so I can't fully see, my phone didn't take all the pictures I thought it did
I see life!! What day? looks like maybe 4-5
I think those pics went up twice
They went under her Monday morning so 5 or 6, I don't know whether it's mean to start from day 0 or day 1???
Tuesday would be day one!
Okay brilliant so this is day 5, thank you
