Flea pills

Can anyone recommend a good 30 day flea pill for cats and dogs? I don’t like the drops or collars I prefer pill I think the work the best. I was using Comfortis and it works super well but my vet stopped selling it unless you get your animals seen ( I have 9 cats and 8 dogs so it’s out of my budget) I’m going to call a few other vets in my area but just asking here for a second opinion.

Bravecto has worked very well for me. It's pricey, but lasts 90 days. I don't think it is approved for use on cats.

There are no oral flea pills for cats that last more than one day (capstar). Cats require topicals. For dogs, you have several choices. Nexgard, Comfortis, Credelio or Simparica. All of these work well for fleas for 1 month. Bravecto oral for dogs works against fleas for 3 months. Bravecto topical works against fleas on cats for 3 months.

I know you said you don’t like collars, but have you looked into Seresto? That’s what I use for my three dogs, and it says it lasts for nine months (I think) but in my experience it lasts about a year. It’s pricy, but for me, it really works.

If you’re set on a pill, I recommend Bravecto

There actually is Comfortis makes a a 30 day cat pill.

Like Sourland, I use Bravecto on my two dogs. I don't treat my cat because he never goes outside. As long as the dogs have no fleas he won't either.

All oral flea medications are prescription medications (except capstar, which only kills adult fleas for 24hours). This means your vet can’t legally dispense it without examining your pet within a year. Bravecto and comfortis are labeled for cats. Bravecto says it lasts three months, but actually only works on one of the tick species that carries Lyme disease for 2 months. Flea collars are crap, but Seresto is not and can last up yo 8 months (but probably less). Wish it didn’t come in collar form as it gets confusing for people. I don’t think it requires a prescription, but beware counterfeit products. As I understand, it has a high initial cost but lasts several months.

I use Preventer Plus that I purchase from petshed.com
Delivery is slow because it ships from overseas but it's the only way I can afford heart worm and flea prevention without going broke.Many people would shy away from Chinese made meds but heck most of human meds we take are made from there also. My oldest dog is 7 years old and all 3 of my dogs get a clean bill of health at the yearly vet exam when i take them for rabies shots.

Bravecto kills Lyme ticks for 3 months, it’s Lone Star ticks that are only covered for 2 months.
seresto collars are very effective and also cost effective so I second this. I’ve used them for my cats in the past and they’re great.
