my dad is a retired police officer. i grew up with my dad and have been around police officers .....
i called the barnstead pd police officer yesterday -i dont KEEP calling him. i felt that calling him was the right move because he actually went to the home and walked the property.
now the state police are saying that because i paid someone for a service(to pick up the birds)and he didnt deliver that makes it a civil case. I dont know if they are correct on saying this but i will say they made it admantaly clear they wouldnt get involved.
if MR.Horse would agree to return them then that would be okay with them but they will NOT get involved and tell him to return them to me.

the state police number is 207-657-3030..

I know you have stated that you have no transportation but, I really think you need to find a way to the police. They may feel that if you can't show up in person that you may not really care to get them back. The squeky wheel is the one that gets greased and if you are right there making noise they may help you.

Good luck!

Jeepers. I don't know. I wouldn't give up. I saw that you posted saying that you were told not to call them anymore. I wish you could have spoke with the wife. Sometimes women are more willing to talk or to feel remorse than men sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.

* (Sigh) The problem here, I think, seems to stem from the problem that every day that passes, more people are involved and the issue gets murkier and murkier with you having no authority. File a complaint re: the state police inaction with the MN Governor's office and get an attorney to pursue the civil angle. P.S.-- Sorry, if I came off harsh, but without clear, persistant, tough, continuous action it doesn't sound like you are going to get anywhere. The media would be an avenue, if you can get someone to take it on-- but, I would definitely stop waiting for people to call you back and I would hire an attorney because you need some clout here.

* Believe me, I know the feeling-- I just had my own go-round with various "powers that be" and it is no fun whatsoever. That's our lovely bureacracy for ya. . .

Post the email address for the horse gentleman...we can flood his inbox with emails asking that the STOLEN Family Pets b returned to their rightful owner. Dive us the number where you can be reached and we ask the gentleman to contact you.

We need to let him know that it is not going away, the bird were to be delivered to you, services were paid for and he is in possession of stolen pets.

Contact the humane society in your old hometown and tell them what has happened and that worse than you pets being stolen, they are being killed by dogs.

Wish I were closer too I would be picketing as well...The horse man can't kick you off if your within the first 8 feet(distance correct?) from the road as that is actually owned by the state DOT on e-ones properties...Public access WHOOT!!

That guy that took your chickens "to the wrong person" really needs to be taught a lesson on respect...mhmm...You want us to come up there and pull out some good old fashioned hillbilly whoop"tush" on him?

Okay so it doesn't sound as threatening when we have to censor, but you get the point...j/k had to lighten the mood a bit, she seems to be really stressed over this and it can cause a seizure(my DH also has seizures) stress is really bad for seizure disorders...She really needs to just try to do what she can with one of those attorneys that don't get paid unless they win as they work harder on their cases...and push the media into running her story and hopefully that may give her some breathing room...And if anyone that lives up that way that isn't tied down to a job could help drive her it may give her moral support too. I would be there in a heartbeat, but I am too far away with little $$$ for travels...College bound DD in the house...
