For those of you that name your chickens...

All of the Orpingtons looked the same when we got them, so we named them all Ethel. There is one BO we call Gojira. The Wyandottes are pretty distinctive, so they get their own names - Sir Walter Raleigh, Bertha, Jessica, Acorn, Elizabeth, Madeline and Mrs. H

These are more nicknames than anything else, so they're pretty self-explanatory. All are Rhode Island Red hens.

Midget - take a wild guess how she got that name.

Ostrich - insists on stretching her neck to its limits.
Scaredy-cat - runs from: plastic, hands, gloves, people generally, anything moving that's larger than a beetle, sudden movement, including that of a plate or half log she tips over by standing on it, etc.
Other one - yes, we refer to her as the other one. She's now pretty much the top chicken, since Ostrich molted.

A friend said we should call her Oddball due to her sheer normalness (is that even a word?).

I named most of my ducks.....does that count?

Tama: welsh harleuin drake
Crayola: welshie duck

Marky: unknown breed duck (yes duck)

Monroe: Mallard and unkown gender
Banjee: mallard Drake
Rosa: Mallard duck

The alchemist: Khaki drake
Alchemist's 'evil assitants': the three other khakis

Yes children named them before we knew if they were ducks, or drakes. hence the girl names/boy names mixed up.

I have Bubba, Big Mama, Bahama Mama, Kiki, Marilyn, The bearded lady, Mrs. Fancypants, Thing One, Thing Two, Paris, Tony, Billy, the twin princesses, Brownie, Misty, and more that I can't think of.

Yes, all of my BO's looked alike too. They have to have had an issue and come live with us in the house to get a name. Betty is named after Betty Slocombe from are you being served because she has a bouffant hair do. Bootieache, had a hole eaten into her. Baby, never got as big as the others and had developmental issues. Stinkeyed Pete never did become a rooster. Reynard is our rooster. And sparkles is sweet and Charming and has a sparkling personality. Ginger never had a problem, but likes to sit in my lap.
The other 20 never got names.

Nearly Headless Nick, cuz he ate some eggs and I threatened to chop his head off. My fault as the chickens were quantined W/o a nest box. He stopped but is still called Nick.

And Frenchy my little bantam friz hen. No one else has names.

my first 4 were named after characters from the book, "Wicked": Elphaba, Galinda, Nessarose, Madame Morrible (Morrie). the newest 3 are Meryl (Streep), Sissy (Spacek) and Uma (Thurman), but Uma is looking alot more like Brad Pitt at the 5 wk. mark....i'm bummed. i can't have a roo.
