I Googled it and got both sides. Some sites said toxic, others said they feed it to their chickens. :/
I've never given any chocolate to mine, but I'd love to hear if any of our members have. I trust you guys more than any random google search!

I read that peanuts were bad. Not sure that us accurate (or if your trail mix has peanuts)

Really? I give mine peanuts. It comes in this mix that is technically bird feed but I mix it with the scratch. Think they are cooked?

Oh, yum... everyone around here does spicy, and I can't have spicy... or much pepper... :/
It's the caffeine not the cacao... animals smaller than us have much higher heart rates than we do... makibg their heart rate speed up is never a good thing... may nkt cause them issues at first, unless they eat a ton of it, but continued feeding will 'wear out the heart' so to speak...

Makes sense. I know that's why dogs can't have it. I'm just gonna chuck it.

I don't give mine chocolate, but many times have given them peanuts. Not in large quantities. One thing I was surprised to hear is toxic to them is avocado. I love avocado and guacamole. But no scraps for the birds with that!

I love avocado! I eat it on a weekly basis, at least. But I did know not to give it to the chickens.

Why not? I'm sure she looks great!

I don't have a problem with people hunting, but I grew up in the SoCal suburbs and food came from the store. Killing things that aren't a threat is foreign to me, which is why I still fall apart when I have to cull a chicken.

Yeah, that's one I won't test... I think it's the oil in the skin, pit and bark of the tree, but it's in the flesh til it gets to full ripeness or something? Not sure, but heard tons about it being toxic and yet a few that give it all the time without issues...

So much conflicting stuff... some say never feed tomatoes too, but others say they give tomatoes all the time w/out issue...

Yep, plus my ADD kicks in and I skip the chores to start the next project. The juvenile pens are coming along nicely, though
