On Friday the 29th we experienced a major storm (the same storm that took out trees and power along the East Coast). We lost over 50 trees on our property (10 were across our driveway!).
During the storm, an ENORMOUS pecan tree in our back yard fell. It was all I could to to keep from running out in the middle of the storm to check on the chickens. Looking out the window, it looked like their coop was completely under the limbs of this tree.
When the storm was over, we checked on the birds and this is what we found...
If the tree had fallen 1 foot to the left or right it would have crushed the coop. As it was, the limbs basically straddled the coop and all the birds were fine.
We are so amazed and grateful that the corner of the roof is the only damage!
