On Friday the 29th we experienced a major storm (the same storm that took out trees and power along the East Coast). We lost over 50 trees on our property (10 were across our driveway!).

During the storm, an ENORMOUS pecan tree in our back yard fell. It was all I could to to keep from running out in the middle of the storm to check on the chickens. Looking out the window, it looked like their coop was completely under the limbs of this tree.

When the storm was over, we checked on the birds and this is what we found...

If the tree had fallen 1 foot to the left or right it would have crushed the coop. As it was, the limbs basically straddled the coop and all the birds were fine.

We are so amazed and grateful that the corner of the roof is the only damage!

Your birds dodged a bullet on that one. Hopefully your power has been restored. So many are still without power in this miserable heat wave.

DUH! on me. Sure you have power. You're on-line.

Wow!! Your ladies were so lucky. I bet it was so scary watching the tree fall knowing that the
coop was near it. I would have done like you, wanting to go out during the storm and make
sure they are okay.

I am glad that all your ladies are safe and have minimal damage to their home.
