Fugly Farm

@N F C @janiedoe I came to check in, no I haven't set it up yet. We’ve been dealing with a few things here and I haven’t had time. It’s hot here too, under a heat warning. Nothing fun, wish it was. See ya later.

Take care IM, you know where to find us. :hugs

I hope all goes well for y'all, IM. Hang in there.

I've been measuring and feeding the flock a tablespoon of pigeon feed per bird each day for scratch
I know of a few people that mix a pigeon feed in with whatever else they use as a home made feed. I think it's a better option than what you call scratch in the USA.

I kept pigeons, so I know what pigeon seeds look like. Just For Common Info. I was paying MUCHO $$$ for it. Like 5 x the price of scratch. It was also only available at a few feed stores.
I supplemented the pigeon feed with wild bird seeds. That were less than half the price. I offered them both free-choice. Pigeons ate/liked both seeds somewhat equally.

We offer Scratch as a treat to our chickens, since it is not a complete feed. In winter time, scratch does provide extra carbs, that aid in keeping chickens somewhat warmer.

It’s definitely better, but some of the ingredients are still the same. I buy the 15% protein with no corn.

Attila went broody again. 🙄 that chicken is ridiculous. I couldn’t figure out where the eggs were, then she went missing. I finally found her after two days sitting on at least a dozen eggs. I took them all and then blocked off her spot when she came out in the afternoon.

We had a storm yesterday afternoon and actually got a little rain. A downpour so it was over quick, but we had thunder and lightning also which was nice. Big bangs and lots of rumbles.

Today I’m going to spray the coop with permethrin and hopefully herd all the chickens into the small yard before dusk so they start roosting in the coop. Red was pretty wet last night because they couldn’t get into the area where Attila was nesting.

Going to get a couple more ducks from the boy, a gray and white one and a black one with white polka dots. Waiting another week to make sure nobody gets sick first, but so far all is well.
