We still get snow days.

Everyone is friends in the coop when the weather gets cold!

This was my little bantam Ameraucana rooster with some of his big Wyandotte girlfriends - boy knew where to keep warm

Lake Huron has not frozen yet this year. Today the air temp is considerably below the water temp, which produces what we call Smoke on the Water - looks just like water almost boiling, with steam rising. This is cold steam though. Very pretty.

A couple of degees above freezing with wind chill most days here in Bristol, UK. I did see the sun for a few seconds this morning and sunrise this morning was spectacular if one was high enough up the Avon valley to see it.

But I think I made a mistake, and I hope my pullets don't suffer for it. I dabbed their wounds again this evening, and then it occurred to me...it's below freezing outside.

I pray it doesn't hurt them.

I don't think it is related to snow, but at&t is down here, really really bad timing. Good thing my internet is not att.

I hope thay are ready for a snow day tomorrow! At least two of them have never seen snow.

None of mine have seen snow before.

They will be fine. That's not enough moisture to be dangerous.
Can you close the tarp flaps on the sides of your run? Because when it's cold it's not just the air temperature or the snow, it's the wind that makes it so uncomfortable.

I can lower the cloth. It's shade cloth, covering the tarps at one end. It's long enough to actually reach the ground.

Final snow total is just shy of 4 inches.

It's quiet in the coop, just a little tentative twittering...

"What the...?!?"

Very little snow in the hoop coop!

I'll check on them a little later when it's fully daylight and re-thaw their waterers.

FYI: the roads don't get plowed here, so those of us who can drive in snow...don't. We stay home, and give first dibs to the maniacs who think an SUV or pickup truck makes them Robert Peary!
