Sweeties' Snow Adventure

I let my chickens out this afternoon. They really wanted to be out as usual.

Foxy and Inky: look at us totally braving the snow. Everything is totally normal.

I am even going to bite on some greens!

"Oh shi*t, Mom, I think an avalanche is happening right behind me, what do I do? What do I do? Are you just going to watch??

"OK, I managed to fly here, without your help. I think I am super stuck though. I am sinking... I'm sinking "

Meimei: "OK, I flew as much as I could but only managed to land between you guys, what do I do now?".
Foxy: "I have no clue! Can't you see I am stuck?"
Inky: "Oh we should never have left. Light and Poopy were smart to stay in."

30 seconds later, Meimei managed to go back to run, and I caught a video of Foxy going back.
[the video autoplays so it may have finished playing by the time you get here. Please refresh the page so the video will play from the beginning.]

I had to rescue Inky.

The end.

Heatwave this morning!

It was supposed to warm up above freezing, so I pulled the cloth up, secured it with a carbiner.

When I raise up both sides of the cloth again I will use removable hardware instead of zip-ties, which I had to cut.

A coop with a view again!

I think that will be less stressful for the flock.

Today's supplements were a slice of stale toasting bread, cubed, a few stale unsalted saltines, crumbled, and one stale taco shell (corn), also crumbled.

But what they really loved was the collards I picked from under the snow...

Martha looks like she means it!
Craving greens must be going around; mine are really enjoying slices of cucumber right now. For protein, I tried offering them pieces of cooked beef carefully cut into bantam-sized pieces, nope, not popular. Rooster actually shook his head at it like it was flying the yucky flag. It could be the content, or the cook. They do keep me guessing! 🤷‍♀️😆
