GMO dangers and animal miscarriages

You need to do some more research before flapping your lips. The cases you refer to were all settled out of court. If you are referring to the Percy Schmeiser case there is much more to the story than we will know, on both sides of the argument.

I don't think there is call to be rude "flapping your lips". Why don't you just concentrating on sharing the specifics of what you know about the Percy Schmeiser case? (If you have any concrete facts) That would be more helpful.

Monsanto did win that case, mostly becuse it was ruled that there was use of patented Monsanto canola - and that how it got planted wasn't the issue. The issue was that Schmeiser should have known. Thing is, there is plenty of GMO corn contaminating other corn...sooo where does it end?

Thanks for the update. I will read it and come up to speed. It has been a while since I check in on the case and it was a long drawn out case. The point is...
Monsanto is such a bully...it's all about the money.

"Monsanto has a history of suing farmers whose fields have been contaminated by Monsanto’s GMOs. On behalf of farmers who must live under this cloud of uncertainty and risk, we are compelled to ask the Court to put an end to this unconscionable business practice.”

Wonderful article...thank you!!!!

I hope you really don't believe this is just "flap". There are reasons for concern with this matter. Do some research, great links to information have been provided here. Take some time to educate yourself with what is really going on. We are being mislead to believe products are safe when the results of the true testing are questionable at best. When a company is allowed to perform it's own research, and billions of dollars are at stake, do you believe you can trust them? Especially, the same company who produced agent orange, DDT, and PCBs. All of which were destructive and the effects of which have been long lasting. Where does the agenda of this corporate company lie when it comes to health safety? The regulatory agencies that are supposed to protect us have allowed Monsanto employees to take key positions within these agencies! How or why is this even possible? MONEY! GREED! POWER!

I agree that people need to be more aware of their food and where it come froms! They also need to cook more of their own food from scratch rather than the processed crap many choose to eat.

However, the backyard/local food movement may reduce the reliance on commercial production only slightly. We will still need to American Farmer to produce grains, fiber, and meat to satisfy the demands of the consumers that either do not have the ability or the desire to grow their own food.

I'm not against Monsanto in any way, they have spent a lot of money on crop research to improve the genetics in plants which in turn, produce better yeilds for farmers. I don't have time to type everything up but thats just one point.

CAST is a non-profit organization which needs income...donations to maintain it's existence. They are right with Monsanto on the genetic engineering. Why would they publish anything that would disclaim the biotechnology of Monsanto? Doing so, could put them out of work. If you were to ask me if their studies were as credible as they claim...I'd call BS! I would like to see similar statistics from an independently funded group with nothing to gain either way. Like it has been said before, Monsanto will put the money and the players in the right places to create the most influence. The science they produce is only as credible as the money going into it.

Please don't be upset that I object to some of what you're saying, Jim. I have lost a lot of faith in our food industry. Cargill just recalled 36million pounds of ground turkey....months after it was discovered to be an issue! They said they could not trace sicknesses back to origin...BS...76 people couldn't figure out something in common they ate? Really, who buys into this crap! Does big business really care about our well being....you decide.

They have spent a lot and made a lot! Do you really think it is their intention to do so for the good of the world? If they did not stem from such a questionable history anyways, I would be willing to believe their motive was helping the world population. This is not the case, time and time again, they have proven to be a heartless company. Their website is convincing otherwise and so is the fabricated science behind their claims. They said DDT was safe with their studies...turned out bad! They also said agent orange was safe....turned out bad too! Gee, how did that pesky dioxin make it into the batch of agent orange! Whoops, sorry American soldiers, didn't mean to ruin your health! My dad was one of the thousands of vets exposed to that stuff. The company has taken little if any responsibility for what it has done wrong in the past. In fact, they don't even miss a beat....they just keep working on their next bank vault filling venture! Seriously, who in their right mind would trust this corporation? Now we let them "design" or "engineer" our food! Hello....there is a problem with this picture!

CAST uses data from the USDA, they don't determine the yield. The graph I shared was simply from their publication.

You can choose not to believe the data, but the fact remains, the US farmer is raising more corn using less resources that they did in the past. The use of Nitrogen fertilizer has decreased because of advances in the genetic selection of hybrid corn. The use of glyphosate has allowed us to rely on tillage practices that reduce erosion and runoff of nutrients and chemicals. Regardless of your personal opinions, the American Farmer is doing more with less.
