if you sold or otherwise got rid of all of you roosters how are you going to raise and sell more chicks???    I don't think you can find a vet to A.I. your hens.      Maybe a personals add.    Lonely Hen/chick  in search of a randy rooster.  

I shall be posting a lonely hearts ad next spring for my girls!! Going to get a new boy next year so I can start hatching again. Giving the girls a rest from amorous behaivour over the winter. If I get the urge i will have to buy some eggs in, the incubator looks very sad packed away in its box


We certainly don't have a vet round here would AI my hens, that is so funny My friend can AI horses but I don't think that would help!!

@napdognewfie Harry has a new horse friend. He's called Brannon and was at the yard before but he's been out on loan for a few years but the girl who took him couldn't keep him no more so he had to come back. Harry is in 7th heaven now he has someone to play fight with!!

Are you saving the hides for a fox coat? They are pretty.

No I'm afraid we dont save them. The foxes are taken for DNA testing and checked for disease, weighed, measured and it's noted down where they were shot. It's a study to see how they move about and who is related who.

Your right though they would make a nice coat or a nice fox fur hat. When we went to the game fair there were some beautiful ones there.

Not up yet. Lol I got up to visit the most popular room in the house and caught up a little reading on here.

Can't do anything till after heart Dr appointment in Oct. We were supposed to go and work on a coop at my friend's. Her POL chickens are coming tomorrow. Lol

I will have to sit on my hands or be duct taped to a chair.

No. Her coop was not secure and a fox picked off her last 3. We were supposed to do the coop over the summer but I just couldn't do it.

The chickens are my friend's and my little enterprise. I can't have a bunch of chickens where I live and she is out in the country. We sell veggie and herb plants in spring (except this year because of me). We are going to put up a large coop with several separate breeding pens. I get to hatch and play with the chicks and when they are big enough they go there in the brooder.

We plan on wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucanas and olive Eggers and a few silkies and frizzles. I am waiting on the sex of the polish and hope for polish frizzles. I need pure good quality RIRs, a BCM roo and a couple more wheaten ameraucana pullets. I am trying to get cream legbars, Isbar and SBH. I do favor the autosexing kinds and lots of nice colorful eggs. I don't plan on showing I am interested in good layers and tasty culls. My friend does not eat meat. DD butchers. Win win.

Morning,, I plan on enjoying my little break . I did keep a few. my 2 sisters i really like frizzled and a silkie roo thats prone to calico. A back up baby roo (son) that is straight feathered calico. I dont want to breed them ,just my favorites. I dont plan on heating the coo so they may or ay not make the winter. time will tell.
I am still feeling bad but did pee this am. my head feels like a dryer with a pr. of tennis shoes in it. a little sore from yesterday but that will pass after i get moving around. I still have that cough and nasty stuff. I will call the dr. monday i guess.
