i was able to bring my husband home yesterday. he still has the pneumonia, a-fib comes and goes, and acute renal failure . the thing that gets me the most though is how swollen he is and the water that is dripping out of his arms.

i am glad to have him home but i dont think he was ready.

I need to find someone to take my extra chicks! I have about 30 chick's and 15 on their way. Ducks due to hatch this weekend or beginning of next week. Anconas, I'm excited. If they don't work out, I'm gonna try muscovies. I gotta get something that will eat flies! I've had problems with flies EVERY summer here in OK, since before we had rabbits and chickens!

Try fly predators; they're a little native insect that eats them! There are many suppliers, but I can tell you we've been very happy with A company called Spalding.

They ship you pupae that are a few days from hatching and when they're ready you scatter them in your manure, litter, and compost piles.

Won't work for flies that travel around from somewhere else, but really work to control hatching in your source material.

We've got a big order and its only $20 through the season.

i was trying to deal with the nurse today when i crashed. i went outside , pulled up a chair by my coop and started balling. i hear cheep, cheep., getting louder then me and it got my attention. i started looking around and right there in my big coop was a very tiny blue silkie. it was alone and very mad. lol i went and picked it up and it settled down. i added it to the babies i just bought then went on a treasure hunt. i did find 2 more chicks in a nest with 3 hens sitting on them. boy did i have a fight on my hands. haha the blue must of fell out. it was about a4 ft. drop. there is only about 20 more eggs in there. and as i am looking around i did notice i have about 8 broodys with just as many eggs. brings new meaning to the phrase, when the cats away, i am going to have to start raising them some food. or using them for food. NOT !!!

Sorry about your hubby Granny. I can imagine all this is over whelming. I guess that is why you were on a baby chick hunt today. They are trying to help distract you from all this. They must not like seeing momma so stressed!

Take care of your hubby Granny.

Is your husband taking a diuretic for the fluid? Are his kidneys cleaning his blood, or just making him retain fluid. Sorry, you both are going through this.
