Granny, you might want to put a ticking clock in your coop to help the hen that got attacked. I have put clocks around with nervous birds with great luck. The ticking is like white noise and really calms them down. Calms down all creatures as well, but my spazzed out parrots have done well on it, as does our Maltese dog that has huge separation anxiety. I keep them in all the coops and aviaries and my poultry have calmed down greatly.

thanks . do they still make those??? been a while since i had one. when my kids finished school i took it outside and smashed it. thats the best time that clock ever showed

Yes they do. I get mine at walmart. These types of clocks are not all that common, but they are still around. Battery operated. Just make sure the alarm is turned off or you will have panicking chickens if it goes off at 1 am!!!

It is about TIME we see some pics! So now we expect regular pics of various birds, chickens, chicks, broodies, eggs and of course you can't leave out falling off doors, work being done on run roofs and kittens being born in the barn.

that was Spazz before he burnt his top off, twice. its official, i have run out of brooder space. the chick i hatched in the bator has a little bit of spraddle leg , not bad. a little vet wrap and good to go. the other babies dont look at it the same way. all i did was put it in there and go feed one coop, come back to check and its wrap is off and toe is bleeding.

. so i have him and his brother back in the bator until i can figure a spot for them. the others are only about 4 days old. twice the size though. i always call the trouble makers he/him. no offence. think i will go pick up my free chick tomorrow.

If I was that chicky babe who got eaten id be a little miffed with my mate too. Poor girl, hanging out with the cat sounds pretty good to me.

Glad we dont have feed stores like yours here...id be on house arrest..there is No way youre making it out of there with just freebie! She'll need a buddy for the ride home at least!
