powder in water i can do !!! many thanks

Later posts list 1.5 teaspoonful of Corid powder or 2 tsp of the liquid Corid per gallon for 5 days. Casportpony weighed out the powder in grams for this--older posts list 1/2 tsp. Granny if you were using sulfadimethoxine, I'm surprised that didn't work, since it treats some of the worst strains of cocci (but not all.)

eggsessive !! hi, long time no hear !! i was trying it in one brooder of one month olds. they are the worse. with the closed eyes, red eyes, puffed up . i havent treated the others

Hope they get better Granny! You don't always see blood in the stool. You should see a improvement quickly with the Corid. :fl

thanks, me too. sent someone for the med today. i will start them as soon as they get back. the one chick that was so sick i had my hatchet in my hand when i was carrying it, i put it by itself after i felt how bony it was and gave it wet mash and sulfa water . it is alive today and no deaths this morn. the one cage of broodys is very ill however. i kinda think they have more going on then cocci. on top of all the symptoms i told you , they are sneezing a bit and runny nose. they are soo frindly, too friendly if you ask me. keeping their eyes closed for the most part and then when they are open they have the red(sick eyes). some of their crops are full looking but i havent checked them that good. they are the ones on the sulfa

yup ! the sulfa babies. thats their new moniker, just seen bubbles. of course thats the , ahh, forgot what their called. legbars? blue egg babies. and the flower hen . what a deal i got on them. lol they looked really healthy the day i bought them but of course, i had money in my pocket, they all looked good. just replaced the sulfa with the cocci meds too. they weren't working anyway.

Granny you just found out the hard way why new chickens should be quarantined for no less than 30 days after you bring them home. I quarantine mine for 6 weeks by keeping them far enough apart that they do not share the same air. Lots of diseases are airborne........
