katibrier, I have a floater. probably freeze hu? havent had it plugged in for a few yrs. forgot about it til you said something. should be something i can do with that.

3 possibly 4 of the frozen serama eggs have veins. day 8. 7 of my own. wont know anything else til lock down. 10 of my own not fertile and 4 seramas not good. these are the ones from member Jessshan, all the way from MT. 3 days in the po system with below freezing temps. one was blood ring .

sorry about your chick Alison, it being that tiny you are going to have a hard time for sure. the one i had lived 6 days and refused to eat and drink. they will aspirate easy. not sure about putting it on its back. never heard that one. I couldnt tube feed because their throat is so tiny. there is 3 chambers there and if you get the liquid in the middle it will choke them. it is their lungs. it has to go to the side. there is a picture on here posted by casportpony that shows it way better then i can tell it.  with that being said, I have been able to cure chicks with this . I didnt have the poly-vi-sol and i am sure that would of been better , i had rooster booster. LOL  try dipping its beak in what you use as if you were teaching it to drink. and as was said, do it often. as far as food, when it does need it in a couple days, someone said that too. (not trying to step on toes here) lol give it a floor of food. even on their side or with a bad aim they will hit something when they peck.  I mixed the rooster booster in the water and that is all it got to drink. it is different times depending on how bad it is for heal time.   I hope it does well.

Well the lil sick one didn't make it

I'm still experimenting myself. I followed bator instructions and got 2 of 6. I followed a low humidity hatch method and got 5 of 6. These were all shipped eggs too. I'm just happy I got some.

i have tried low humidity, dry, and i have been told they drown easy and i have been tols they need extra humidity. this batch has water. Hard to keep an eye on the air cell if your not supposed to candle ! congrats on the hatch alisen, they are cutie pies. sorry you lost one but you had a good hatch. I will be pleased if i only get one to hatch.

Granny, handling eggs to candle them should not harm the chick in the egg. However, i don't think they should be candled more than twice a week. Make sure anytime you are handling the eggs that your hands are super clean. Wash your hands with soap and water. Don't use hand sanitizer.

Here in SC I can dry hatch, since it is humid all of the time. Humidity stays around 40% because of the incubator. I don't know what the humidity is where you are.

I wash my hands !! LOL kidding enola, when i candeled at day 12 they freaked out twisting in the shell and dead 2 days later. I just dont know what to do ! I can hatch mine just fine in the same bator, same time. will they drown if the humidity is too high at this stage?

I have never seen the embryos 'twisting' when I shine the light on them. I wonder if there is such a thing as too bright of a light?! My flash light is just bright enough to see veins, the embryo and the air cell. Of course, I have no idea how to tell what the strength of my flash light is......
