Granny - how deeply is the floor bedded? It could be that the bird passed and got buried in the bedding as the others were scratching about.

ummm, the floor is clean except for one part i used 2x4s to make a bed for them. I added shavings up to the 2x4 line. be back in a min. LOL

mystery solved. Ol grey mare take the spoiles. How flat can them things go? how did i not even smell it? not much there but there it is.

1 1/2 in. deep litter and them scratching in it and i dont see or smell it. gross

Poor granny girl you have way too much trouble for one very nice woman. I'm so sorry about your bird troubles, it's just not fair.

guess i will be making an eye drs appt. soon. to give me a little credit it was about the same color as the pine shavings. It was small so it had to of passed a while back. And i sat in there a lot just watching them play. LOL was sitting right next to it. Dont seem as if i am doing too much right lately. I am heart broke over the serama. she offered me another and i told her no. I am done with trying to have something that is not hardy, worrying me to death, more then i can afford. just done. so if the others dont die i will put them with my other roo and he will have 3 hens . I still have 2 eggs on day 14 but i am not going down that road. what will be will be.

thanks,you know Lisa, I got chickens because i love them, I enjoy them. somewhere down the line that changed . I had to have the pretty, the most colorful. I lost sight for sure. not just with bad eyes but a bad heart as well. I got greedy . I am never going to make money on them , even enough to buy the feed. I am giving the eggs to the animals, that i enjoy. I just need to stop trying so hard and go back to what they were intended for. pleasure,company, and fresh eggs .

Yep that would probably be best. Otherwise it's too heartbreaking & like you said way too expensive. I've been where you are at with thinking I could earn a income from breeding birds our selling hatching eggs. I know it's a pipe dream. I don't have the space or funds to even get into that. I think I would just rather go sit out in the middle of my barnyard mutts and have a enjoyable time watching their antics and drinking coffee.
