My most recent broody started showing signs of being over it at about 4 weeks.  She would go in at night and hop up to the roost with the rest of the flock and settle right in but the babies would cry and whine until, eventually, she gave in and went back to the spot she'd been nesting with them on the floor of the coop.  Did your broody stay up there the whole night?  Once she stopped sleeping with them she cut back her daytime devotion as well - she'd still step in if someone was getting out of hand with one of the kids for about a week, and tolerated them sticking close to her, but after that time she was just another flock member when it came to how she reacted to them.

Wow - you're going to be swimming in littles!  Good luck on both hatches.

Not sure where she slept. I just open the run whenever I go out. I do know she doesn't seem as attentive today. I need to go out and check, but the mosquitoes are AWFUL. Will they be safe without her? I'm more worried about the other hens than predators.

I cant tell you anything about them camping because i am the hens biggest predator. LOL I snatch and grab them as fast as they come and never had a broody with a clutch before. thats sad . but, I do know the other hens and roosters will pick on them . if you have baby roos the adult roos know it. so my guess would be , if you are willing to take a chance on losing one or two then let them be, if not put them in a brooder.

wow Camping ! busy day and such cute pictures.  I love the big black hens with the little white chicks. It makes for a pretty picture. cooking for 75 ? :barnie makes my feet hurt thinking about it.   Lisa, very good to hear from you. all is well here now. thanks to ol mare . daughter loving her new job. AND I have a little bit of good news. went for a ride w/ son and his friend and ended up at an animal shelter. If you remember when my son lost his therapy cat ? he has found a new friend ! for $9. he got a korat. its a bit of different cat. she is one yr. spayed, shots wormed rabies. the whole nine yards. hypoallergenic to a point and very pretty. she is like the russian blue. he refused to have his picture done with her at the shelter, refused to put her in a box. she curled up in his lap and slept the whole way home. about an hr. oh, and she is chipped.  bad timing , good deal.  i hope this keeps him for another 15 yrs. or so.

So glad to hear that your son found another cat he likes. A pet can make all the difference in the world for anyone but they are so great for special needs loved ones. I'm so happy for your son, all things happen for a reason. God is good and he will provide our needs :) Hope everyone has a great day. The sun is finally shining and it isn't snowing so outside I go. So bummed though, never expected to get snow for 2 days this week and night time temps in the 20's. Of course this was just after I noticed the first of the week that my asparagus was coming up

I wrote a letter to Ohio:

Dear Ohio,
Not that you may know, but it is April. You are snowing like it is January. Get yourself together. We want rain, not snow. Got it?

Love you,
The people of Ohio <3
