Looks like it's been a bit quiet in here the last couple of days -- everyone must be busy!
Congrats on the new babies, @campingshaws and on your shiny new status @granny hatchet (life without the ads is a beautiful thing!).

Got home last night, went out to drop a round bale in the field for the horses and do evening chicken chores.....find Grandma D (light brahma, one who hatched out eggs for me last fall) in the nest box looking suspiciously like she's thinking of going broody again. I needed this back in March when I was bringing home new chicks and wishing I could pawn them off on a nice broody hen to raise, vs. having them take up residence in my bathtub and deal with all the pesky work of raising and integrating them myself. Of course she would wait until now, when those babies are 8 weeks old. So, now I find myself pondering -- I *could* find her some nice fertile eggs or, better still, place a small order for some nice, sexed day olds so as to avoid hatching out all cockerels (would be just my luck) -- or I could be reasonable and just break her of it now, but she looks so happy and inviting all fluffed up in that box...... What to do, what to do........of course, by the time I spend all day to day trying to decide I'll get home and find her out and about, laughing at how she had me fooled.

Hi ya all! Just checking in been on vacation went to Florida to ride Harley's with some friends had lots of fun went to the Atlantic Ocean then over to the Golf and went swimming it was like bath water! Crazy warm. The sand there is like powdered sugar so white it looks like snow.

Sorry to hear your foot still so bad Granny and things are so hectic. Sending hugs and best wishes your way.

The chicks are beautiful, camping! Were those eggs from your hens or bought? Wonder how hard it would be to track down the hen that laid those good developing eggs. Betcha the same hen laid them. She'd be a prize if you only know who.


Suzierd, we've had fog all day. Your Florida pictures do look like heaven! You ever watch the old I Dream of Jeannie show?

Wish I could just blink and put myself on a beautiful beach for an afternoon.

Granny, I have my suspicions about who gave you the upgrade. I have it narrowed to to pretty much everybody on this thread! They're all so nice, anyone of them could have done it. Very suspicious...

Wishing it would be nice to just snap your fingers and be there I hated the long flight. I really wanted to see a Alligator in the wild I did manage to see a small one from a distance at a state park some people at the lake said they seen a big one at the dock the day before. Heard that at a few places always a day late.

They're my own eggs! I only have four sussex hens, so it shouldn't be too hard to determine which one laid the good eggs.

19 chicks! Two zipping and still a handful of pips. Most of the mixes are hatching blue or black. One is yellow, and one is chipmunk, but I can't tell it from the sussex babies yet.

awesome !!! hope they all hatch. lol well, I found out who bought me the membership and its NO one on this thread ! hahahaaaaa went to drs. today. explained things to him, showed him the mess up on the xrays and he just kept shaking his head and saying, "I just dont know what to say. " He wants me to go to the city. Also more diabetes meds on top of what i am taking now. I lost a baby yesterday and another today. one of the polish.

I think its the weather . one coop pooping blood. cocci maybe ? it was dark but all blood. not sure who did it but i will treat them all . hopefully i can get out there tomorrow. I dont want GS messing with meds. I am so very tired from my sugar being high. hope everyone sleeps well.

Hope you get to feeling better. This was the 21st day of incubating the refrigerated americana eggs two have hatched, 4 are piping and one was unable to break the shell but I could hear it piping inside the shell. It has been trying to break through since early this morning. I gave up a minute ago and tried to help out of shell. There was some blood so i wrapped it in a moist face clouth. I'm sitting by the incubator now and its piping os getting. Keep your fingers crossed for it. This is going to sound strange but I've been praying for it.
