When I was a kid, the whole family used to sit around the kitchen table with the Thoroughbred registries trying to think up names for that year's foals. Odd names that weren't even close to what we actually called the horse. If the name wasn't taken, you still had to list 3 possibilities on the form and send it in, keeping fingers crossed that no one got the name before you (which happened a few times). Must be much simpler with these new fangled computers!Our very first foal was registered Snidely Whiplash. That was actually the best of the choices. Think dad had been sipping a bit.

They don't like anything moving...people, other animals...leaves on the trees. Lol. But they let you know when something is up. Good watchdogs but not as intimidating as big geese.![]()
