I use flea spray intended for dog bedding. Kick the birds out for the day and let it dry before they can go back in. I have the powder too, but I put it in a condiment squeeze bottle. Don't like the idea of breathing that stuff in too much.

First year the mites

were horrible, I put a drop of Frontline (for cats) on each Serama. Frontline doesn't kill fleas anymore, but it works great on evil mites.

Lady at a Serama show told me about that. No ill effects for the birds, and it's much easier than the dust.

I shook it while the chickens were in there. dusted them up real good. LOL

I know they say your not supposed to but I dust my birds with it when they get lice. I absolutely hate bugs.

Does it still say for chickens on it too? What brand do you use. They looked at me like I had 2 heads wherever I asked. I was looking for it for a friend's beans and the one she tried that didn't mention chicken didn't work either. It's been a few years ago.

if frontline doesnt kill fleas anymore that would explain why these dogs are still scratching. what am I to use ?

Why is that? Mine never cared much for me. She is gone now so I don't have that problem anymore. Just can't understand it. My mom loves all of her daughter in laws & son in laws. Marriage is hard enough without someone always stirring the pot.

Nope, says dont use it on animals. Been using it for years. I dont know the brand . Its in the pole barn. remind me tomorrow to look. it just says 5% sevin dust for veggies. comes in a bag or a shaker bottle. use it on the cats too. and myself by accident.

I've used seven dust & one called a poultry dust (really struggled to get the lice killed with the latter though)
