the wind is so cold here today i stayed out 45 minutes with the chicks..thats all i could stand..the cold air gives me a headache..
 
Me too. One of my bantams, JJ, is the only one who has laid in the past month.

mine are molting..right now they are free loaders..maybe one egg a week...
 
it's 4 square feet per LF how many do you have
I'm getting four. I think that should be enough for them . Right now I have one roo and four hens. Two in each of the five x five coops and one in a two x four coop. All have runs on the bottom the same size and I let the free range in the evening . I'm sure if it gets cold enough I'll put my heat lamp in for them. How cold should it get be for they need them?

i don't know anything about silkies but with mine which are bantams and very small..if it gets 20 i turn on the heat lamp..does it get very cold where you live..

None of my Easter pullets have laid yet. :barnie I keep rattling the gumbo pot at them, but no luck.
