Kitty ate a little on his own yesterday, so we're gonna give him a few more days.

Kathy, good news about kitty. Hope he is on the mend.

I lost my very first cat to kidney failure. Snoopy was my best buddy growing up, he used to follow me around and climb trees with me. I'd always think I got my hair caught on a branch, but it was him up above, dangling his paws down and grabbing at me! Then, trekking back, he'd sit and meowl until I picked him up and carried him home. Snoopy turned out to be the best name for him too, because he was always present wherever the action was. 3am up at the barn tending a mare foaling, and Snoopy would be in the rafters over the stall checking on things. Back home on a visit soon after I started college, I noticed Snoopy had really odd smelling breath and his teeth were all gunky. Vet said it was his kidneys, and too far along to do anything, so I had him put to sleep.

I cried for a week. He was a good friend.

We are the last ones who even knew anyone from the depression and WW2 generations, so it's important to keep telling their stories and instilling their values. People have such short memories, and they take for granted what previous generations have sacrificed.
Never forget, and don't let anyone else either!!

Yes. Cold front coming down from Alaska is supposed to be here tomorrow. Forecasters seem a little more confident of rain this time, so I am hopeful. Even if it's not much, it sure would be nice to have the dust washed out of the trees.
Yeah, we're kind of a dust bowl here. So much so that between the duct and the bird poop on the power pole that the first real rain will cause it to catch fire. Will have to find those fire picture from last year.

Quote: Sorry you lost your kitty, but hanks for sharing, that really helps me, 'cause my vet said the same thing about his breath and teeth, so perhaps I am just prolonging the inevitable.

You probably caught it earlier than I did. Snoopy became an outside barn cat as he got older, so once I moved to Davis for school, he didn't get as much attention other than being fed and getting a few pats. On my visit, I noticed right away that he didn't seem right, and when I picked him up for a cuddle, I knew it was bad. If your kitty is still eating, that's a good sign, and he's probably not suffering. It's so hard. I know exactly how you feel. I hate making that decision, but you are doing the best and giving him a chance.

October 28, 2013 - This is our pet power pole we call "Sparky" Luckilly the ground was pretty wet, so the grass fire it started was quite small.
